The educational boxing coach plays a multifaceted role, combining aspects of sport with a pedagogical approach aimed at the holistic development of the participants. The goal goes beyond teaching boxing techniques, using sport as a tool to promote values, emotional, social and cognitive skills.
Educational Boxing
Educational boxing is an approach to boxing that uses the principles and practices of this sport as a tool for the physical, emotional and social development of participants, especially in educational and training contexts, such as schools, community programs and rehabilitation institutions.
Unlike traditional competitive boxing, educational boxing focuses more on young athletes' motor skills, emotional control, discipline, respect, self-esteem and values such as perseverance and teamwork. Instead of having the main objective of confrontation and victory over the opponent, the focus is on self-control, personal improvement and the development of positive behaviors.
Main features of educational boxing:
1. Physical and motor development: Improves motor coordination, agility, resistance and strength.
2. Emotional aspects: Teaches emotional control, patience and confidence.
3. Self-discipline and respect: Values respect for others, for training discipline and for one's own body.
4. Self-knowledge: Encourages reflection on one’s own limits and overcoming challenges.
5. Preventing risky behavior: In youth-oriented programs, educational boxing can help prevent violence, substance abuse, and involvement in criminal activity.
6. Social inclusion: It can be applied in communities with different social contexts, offering an alternative in learning and personal growth.
This approach not only serves to develop the young athlete's physique, but also to strengthen values that contribute to a more balanced and healthy life, both individually and socially.
